How to: Set up Your Blogger Profile

This tutorial will cover how to set up your Blogger Profile.  This is an important step in ensuring that other bloggers can find you.  Case in point ~ if you were to leave a comment on someone's blog but your profile was not properly set up then the blogger would have no way of finding you.  Setting up your Blogger Profile with your blog address and other contact info will help you gain added exposure for you blog and it's content.

Here are the basic steps to access your Blogger Profile...

1. Begin by navigating to the backend of your blog ~ you can do this by clicking on the "Design" link on the main page of your blog...

2. In this area you will see a small arrow next to your name or blog title in the top right hand side...

3. Click on the arrow to bring up a small menu...

4.  Now click on the "Blogger profile" link...

5.  Your profile will show up in a new window.  To edit your profile click on the "Edit Profile" button...

If you've never activated your profile then you may be prompted to do so.

6. Here you can add all sorts of information including your profile image, email address, and any blogs you own that you want to appear under your profile...

7. To add a blog to your profile just click on the "Select blogs to display" link...

8.  There you can check and un-check boxes next to the blog titles to select which ones will appear...

This is especially handy for bloggers like me who have other blogs they use for testing and customer examples that they don't want to show up under their profile.

9. Once you've made your selection/s then click the "Save Settings" button to keep your changes...

10. To return to your profile and view your updates click on the "Back to  Edit Profile" button...

11. Complete filling out your profile and then click the "Save Profile" button by scrolling down to the bottom of the page...

12. In the next window click on "View Updated Profile" to view your changes...

That's it! I will be adding more information to this area, including more descriptions on the options offered within the Profile area, so you can check back for that in the future.

Best,

  1. I tried this, but it takes me to my Google account profile. Is there any way I can change that?

    1. I'm not really sure Megan, if it looks the same then it is your Blogger profile but if it's your Google+ profile then it will need to be changed another way and the best resource for that is through Google search.

  2. Sharon, I'm trying to put a link in my blogger profile. I tried to use html to add it, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Any suggestions? https://www.blogger.com/profile/10498066938213558757

In the update, where it says "Here's a post . . ." I put in the html link, but no link shows. Thanks.

    1. I recommend visiting this link: https://support.google.com/blogger/ to find out what you can and can't include in a profile. My guess is that they don't allow html in that particular area.

    2. Thanks, I did. But I also reviewed what I had done and found that I'd made an error in the html code. It works now. Again muchas gracias.

Due to a recent increase in SPAM comments preauthorization is temporarily set for all comments ~ once the situation improves I will remove that function.

I love your comments and appreciate your opinions so much ~ I hope you enjoyed your visit and come back often.
